Master Class

November 3-4, 2012
AWA is offering an exclusive opportunity for a Master Class, Nov 3-4, 2012,  with nationally renowned artists Stephanie Birdsall, Kim Casebeer, Joni Falk, Gay Faulkenberry, Donna Howell-Sickles, Carol Swinney, Linda Tippetts and Star York.  The Master Class includes the Plein Air Paint Out on November 3 at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.  Participants can paint or watch other artists at work throughout  the 21 acre nature preserve, zoo and botanical garden.  The Paint Out is followed by a day-long  atelier where Master Artists will offer demonstrations and critique.  The atelier will be held at a private studio location, offering sweeping Sonoran Desert views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Whether watching demonstrations, participating in critique sessions, engaging in Q & A or taking advantage of  the natural scenery to paint on their own,  members of the 2012 Master Class will have an unparalleled opportunity  to learn from exemplary women  artists doing what they do best. To keep class size small,  registration is limited & open to women artists age 18 & older.  Fees listed below include museum entrance for the Paint Out on Saturday and a gourmet box lunch on Sunday.  Reduced rates for lodging are available upon registration.   

$125 for AWA members.
$185 for non members, includes annual membership dues.

Museum Show

Signature and Master Signature Members of American Women Artists celebrate the great Sonoran Desert through painting and sculpture.  The desert covers over 120,000 square miles through the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico.  It's a place where plants and animals not only survive, but thrive in the harsh conditions and haunting light that serve as inspiration for some of America's finest artists.

Member Show and Juried Competition

Join us for the 15^th Annual Master & Signature Member Show and National Juried Competition Exhibition.  Southwest Art Magazine notes this annual show features "women of distinction" in a celebration of their finest work.

The Gallery will host an Artists Reception for the public from 1:00-4:00pm on Friday, November 2, 2012.  The winners of the juried competition will receive approximately $15,000 in cash and prizes, with a Best of Show award package of over $6,000.

Plein Air Paint Out

Paint Out - 9 am – 11 am

AWA will host a Paint Out on the grounds of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. All AWA members, including Master, Signature and Associates, are invited to participate. There will be an exhibition, for Masters and Signature members only, in the Baldwin Building from 1:00 until 4:00 pm. Participants will need to pay the museum's admission fee.  There is no additional charge for the Paint Out.
